At 72, this Australian truckie has more than 50 years of stories to tell — and a shed full of restored International trucks to go with them. He started out at 22 behind the wheel of a Dodge V8, running Sydney to Perth in the 1970s before a dramatic accident sent his career in a different direction through fence building, fertiliser sales, and carport construction. Eventually the road pulled him back, and he returned to trucking determined to do it properly the second time around.
A Shed Full of Restored International Trucks
What followed was decades spent collecting and restoring International trucks, from multiple 3070 models to classic D-Lines and a rare vintage International running a 392 engine with a genuinely uncommon 5-speed synchro box. Every truck in the collection carries its own history and its own reason for being saved, making this episode as much a portrait of a life spent on Australian highways as it is a showcase of restored International iron.
It’s rare to find one collection of International trucks spanning this many models and this many decades, let alone one built by a single owner over a lifetime. Each truck getting restored, rather than sold off, says a lot about what these machines meant to the man who drove them.
