The 2025 Victorian Hot Rod & Street Machine Show brought Greased n Gassed back for another year of walk-and-talk coverage, and the headline moment was the long-awaited unveil of Dean Davidson’s 1951 Ford Business Coupe. Built with a 6-inch chopped roof and a handmade floating front grille, the coupe rides on airbag suspension with E-Level management to keep everything sitting exactly right, powered by a built 8BA flathead V8 finished in period-correct 1960s custom trim.

Elsewhere on the show floor, Road Lords Kustom Car Club president Damian Lewis had his own standout on display: a 1930 Ford five-window coupe with an all-steel body, a 4.5-inch chop and 6-inch channel, running a 350 Chevy engine feeding through six Stromberg carburettors. Between the new unveils and the club regulars, the show once again proved why it’s become a fixture on Victoria’s custom car calendar.
A first public unveil always draws a crowd, and Dean’s 1951 Ford Business Coupe was worth the wait — airbag suspension and a period-correct flathead V8 is a combination that takes real patience to get right. It’s exactly the kind of build the Vic Hot Rod & Street Machine Show exists to showcase.
